The full-color, 32-page comic, which bears a retail price of $2.99, possesses Niles’ signature macabre touch, something which won’t surprise his fans but may startle long-time DC readers who recall the publisher’s more family-friendly fare. “He’s almost certainly been created out of dead bodies,” says Niles of Simon Dark, “but he has no idea who he is or where he came from. It should be an interesting and creepy ride through the darker corners of the DC universe. I really hope people dig it, because Scott and I are having a blast, and I’d love to keep going.” (And in fact they are: issue #2 of the monthly series streets November 14.)
