Steve adapting Frazetta painting to comics

August 1st, 2007 by Administrator

One of the many Niles projects announced at San Diego was his upcoming adaptation of a famous Frazetta painting to comics in “Frank Frazetta’s Dracula Meets the Wolfman.” Comic Book Resources has the skinny on this interesting and unique project.

“It’s going to be short, but violent and everything that painting depicts. Basically, it’s going to be Dracula and the Wolfman walk into a bar and get into a fight,” Niles joked. “It’ll be a lot more than that, really, but it’s also because other than some very old films, those two … don’t have a lot of crossover. It’s going to be fun. Dracula and Frankenstein have an entire history together — and I do have a Dracula/Frankenstein thing I’m working on with another artist over at Wildstorm actually — but this will be very visceral and I’m going to attempt to bring the sense of that picture to life. That’s really the fun of this whole ride they’ve embarked on.

Coverage of the “30 Days” panel at SDCC

Shock Till You Drop has an in-depth play by play of the “30 Days Of Night” panel that was hosted by Steve and the “30 Days” cast and crew at last weekend’s Comic-Con.

- Niles: “I’m a huge vampire fan. One of the things Ben and I wanted to do was make vampires scary again because we’ve turned them in Count Chocola, teenage girls are dating them on TV. These should be feral vampires that look at humans as nothing more than something to feed on.”

- Harnett: “I felt this was going to be a good horror movie. When you find a good piece of material, it doesn’t matter what the genre is. I like to switch things up and don’t like to do the same thing for long periods of time so it’s natural to switch from genre to genre.”
