IDW Publishing, Steve Niles and Kieron Dwyer Reanimate Zombie Terror in REMAINS

February 28th, 2004 by Administrator

Official Press Release

[Remains 1]San Diego, CA — Horror mastermind Steve Niles (30 Days Of Night) and Kieron Dwyer (Last Of The Independents) harvest a whole new crop of zombie terror with Remains, a new horror series from IDW Publishing.

Reno, Nevada is an unlucky town for a blackjack dealer and an exotic dancer who find themselves trapped in a casino, surrounded by zombies trying to cash their chips in for good.

Are these two unlucky players a modern day Adam and Eve? Will they make it out of this city of madness? Only Steve Niles knows, and he’s not telling…

“This isn’t so much a love/horror story,” says Niles, “as it’s a story of waking up next to someone you wished you hadn’t slept with… oh, and the world has been overrun by flesh-eating living dead, too.”

“Zombies aren’t the newest monster on the block,” IDW Editor-in-chief Jeff Mariotte adds. “But they may be the coolest, especially the way Niles and Dwyer bring them to…well, not-life. Fans of the flesh-eaters are going to want to get in on the ground floor of this new classic.”

Remains #1 is a 32-page, full color comic book, on sale in May, 2004, at a retail price of $3.99. Copies signed by writer Steve Niles will also be available, with a retail price of $19.99.

30 DAYS OF NIGHT ANNUAL reviewed by 4th Rail

February 9th, 2004 by Administrator

Don MacPherson of comics review Web site The Fourth Rail gave the 30 DAYS OF NIGHT ANNUAL a nice review. Don said:

“When IDW announced it was going to publish a sequel to Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith’s hit vampire comic, I was looking forward to it, but I was unsure how they’d pull it off, given the finality of the first story. Well, Dark Days proved to be inventive and riveting. And if there were any lingering doubts as to the storytelling potential in the monster-laden world of 30 Days, this anthology special will put them to rest. Niles builds upon the ideas put forth in 30 Days and Dark Days, and he follows up on a couple of supporting characters from those titles as well. Overall, the stories here are quite accessible, and even newer readers can discover what makes Niles such a strong horror writer.”
