X-Files/30 Days of Night #1 and Mystery Society #2 On Stands Now!
A double dose of new comics, Tool, and a face-to-face first
I'm so tired I can hardly stand…and I have a signing tonight!
Both X-FILES/30 DAYS OF NIGHT #1 and MYSTERY SOCIETY #2 came out today. I hope you're able to grab both, and enjoy reading them as much as we are having making them.
I just got back from a quick mini-vacation. After the Mystery 13 Tour I didn't want to leave the house for a year, but my X/30 co-writer and Tool guitarist, Adam Jones invited me to join them on the road for a couple shows, so how could I resist?
Both shows were great. I love seeing Tool play. They always put on a rock solid show.
In San Francisco I also got to see Jello Biafra perform with his new band. They performed a couple Dead Kennedy's songs like Holiday in Cambodia, so that was a great surprise.
In Sacramento I got to meet loooong time collaborator Kelley Jones. We have talked on the phone for thousands of hours and collaborated on almost as many comic pages, but we had never met face-to-face. It was great. We first worked together on a couple CAL MCDONALD stories, LAST TRAIN TO DEADSVILLE & SUPERNATURAL FREAK MACHINE, and most recently BATMAN: GOTHAM AFTER MIDNIGHT. Kelley watched the show and then we all hung out and talked backstage afterwards, nerved out and talk movies and comics.
I actually have a signing tonight at Metropolis Comics in Bellflower California from 6:00-8:00. I'll be signing X-Flies/30 Days and Mystery Society and anything else you want. If you're in the area stop by.
Giant thanks to Adam Jones for the invite and shows (not to mention a place to sleep and ride home on the bus). I hope you'll check out our first comic together with art by Tom Mandrake.
Also out today is Mystery Society #2 with art by Fiona Staples. The whole team is assembled as of this issue. Hope you like it!
